What did you learn this Christmas Season?

I learned once again that I would like to spend more time listening to my children and less time trying to figure out what gift will give me the "best mom in the world" feeling.
This is picture is of Lindsay consoling Isabelle on Christmas.
Isabelle is trying to come to terms with the fact she will not be able to play hide and seek with her cousin Jordyn. Isabelle is hoping to find someone who might understand her plight and join her on a fun-filled journey of finding the perfect hiding place. Finding a spot untouched by the human mind and to sit in anticipation as someones shoe passes unknowingly by your knee......Ohh.....I got carried away.
The conclusion of this real life story is that Isabelle got to play hide and seek. She didn't get to play with Jordyn but she did play with her Uncle David and we all lived happily ever after.

I'll count....you hide.....1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.....Ready or not, you shall be caught!

I love grandma's. If you haven't hugged your grandma today, do it. If you need to borrow a grandma to hug from someone else. Just do it. Brandon's ( mine too) Grandma Molly passed away yesterday and its so amazing how she has touched the lives of her grandchildren. God gives us all a second chance to be parents and grand ones at that! I would love to hear from all of you who read this. Please send a comment to this blog about some great advice or memory that you have about your grandma. I would like to publish your comments.

BOB DYLAN HELPS FAMILIES IN NEED!

I LOVE BOB DYLAN. LINDSAY LOVED HIM BEFORE ME BUT ITS OK. WE CAN ALL LOVE BOB.
WE CAN ALL LOVE LINZ. WE CAN ALL LOVE ME. WE CAN LOVE BRANDON AND GET STUCK IN A TREE. OK. I GOT OFF TRACK FOR A MINUTE.
ANYHOO...IT WAS STINKIN AWESOME! I READ THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE ARTICLE AND I STILL CANT BELIEVE I WAS THERE. I STILL CANT BELIEVE WE MADE IT FOR 2 HOURS IN THE POURING RAIN AND NO ONE HAS SIGNS OF PNEUMONIA YET! IT WAS THE BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ONLY BEEN TO TWO OTHER CONCERTS, BON JOVI/ CINDERELLA AND ALANIS MORRISETTE. I KNOW I DONT HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE IN THIS CONCERT DEAL BUT IN THE BIG PICTURE...YOU KNOW, THE BIG PICTURE, THE SCHEME OF LIFE. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE AND WE CAN ALL THANK BOB FOR WOOOING MY GRANDMA FIRST, THEN LINDSAY, THEN ME. WHAT A HAPPY FAMILY. I JUST CANT STOP THE RHYMING.

This is for the Girls in the Family! .......... (Part One)

I wanted to send some love out to my girls!


Mom....Thanks for being my mom. The one who took care of me, bathed me, wiped my butt, watched with heartache while I grew up and made my own choices. You were right. I find out all of the time with my own kids how hard it is to be a mom. I appreciate how much you love me and how much you try to be the best mom to each of us kids.

Grandma Phyllis....Thank you for loving me for all of the good, bad and ugly. I appreciate how you always tell me how much potential you think I have. Thank you for always having something positive to say. You have been a great cheerleader for me!

Deryk....Thank you for being there for me when I call and listening to the day's dilemma. I appreicate how patient you are with me when my world seems to be unraveling from the chaos of computer hell or just sharing war stories from our week. I appreciate how you handle the storms of life.

Steviee.... Thanks for being there for me and for understanding the madness of staying home with kids. Thanks for laughing with me about how crazy we can be as moms. I appreciate how passionate you are about God, motherhood and family.

Lindsay....Thank you for being there for me and knowing, somehow, supernaturally, that I needed God's voice a little louder to save me from a near meltdown. Thank you for your faith in God and thanks for giving me some of the best hugs in the world.

Jen....Thank you for being a friend that can go through lifes ups and downs and still be in it for the long haul. I appreciate that we can talk about the mistakes we have made but rejoice in the truth that our friendship runs deep.

Melinda....Thank you for spending girl time with me and talking life out with me. Thanks for letting me bawl my eyes out while you drive me all over the Salt Lake Valley. I appreciate how you listen to me and accept me for who I am.

Aunt Rochelle....Thank you for being there for me to understand things only a Gervol can understand. I appreciate how much you love our family and how you have persevered through all of it's ups and downs.

Aunt Geri....Thank you for believing in my creativity. I appreciate the opportunities that you give to me to express myself and not only listen to my ideas but give them a chance to blossom.
